“You see the mistakes because you’re looking for them.”
It never occurred to me how relevant this statement was until I found myself starring down the reflection in the mirror. The longer I looked, the more flaws I began to see. Why my nose, eyes, mouth were a certain shape? Why my hair couldn’t be as silky, smooth or long? Why i’m out of shape? Why there was a distinguishable pimple on the left side of my nose at the most inconvenient time? And then you know what i realised?
If I didn’t look long enough to see the flaws, I wouldn’t have known that I had all these ‘problems’ wrong with me. I would have walked freely without any concerns about my appearance and it would be one less thing to worry about.
A lot of the mistakes that we see in ourselves, others or the wider world don’t really exist until we look beyond something was already amazing. So why look? Why think too much? Leave it be. Don’t change something beautiful into something ugly, hateful or troublesome.
Keep it simple and carefree. That way your mind will also be free.
